MMI Sonora is a leading supplier of premium quality custom cut gears that meet the most demanding tolerance requirements in the industry. Our well-maintained facilities houses cutting-edge gear hobbing, shaping, and milling equipment that gives us the capability to machine more than 11 precision gear types with a diverse range of tooth forms, including involute, straight, cycloidal, and other specialty geometries. We have the capacity to fabricate gears with dimensions of 0.5” to 16” in diameter and 0.25” to 1.0” depth with accuracies of ±.0001”, and after being cut the gear can be finished by burnishing, grinding, honing, lapping, plating, or shaving. Various heat treating processes are available to enhance wear properties and strengthen the core.

Our modern metrology lab inspects gear geometry and evaluates gear accuracy according to our ISO 13485:2003 registered quality program. All dimensions and metallurgical results are recorded to meet Mil-Spec, ASTM, ANSI, SAE standards. Our gear cutting capabilities range from single-piece prototypes to production volumes of one million units or more.
